Last Wednesday, August 2, 2023, we had the honor of hosting FTA Administrator Nuria Fernandez to mark the completion of Ogden Express (OGX).

The community — folks from federal, state, and local governments; regional associations; Weber State University; and commerce — gathered to celebrate what they accomplished together.

The event was marked with six speakers and culminated with a ribbon almost-cutting by the OGX bus. Over 200 people showed up to mark this special moment with palpable energy, excitement, and joy. This 5.1-mile Bus Rapid Transit project will go into service on August 20 and will provide a 10-30 minute service along 13 stations located between Ogden Central Station and McKay-Dee Hospital.

This project was made possible by a $78 million investment from the FTA and another $42 million from state and local entities. The execution of the project on budget and on time was made possible by incredible community collaboration and support with key partners like Weber County, Ogden City, Wasatch Front Regional Council, Weber State University, McKay-Dee Hospital, Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce, Ogden Downtown Alliance, HNTB, Jacobs Engineering, AECOM, WCEC, Stacy and Witbeck, Inc. Signal prioritization, dedicated lanes, and right away were made possible by working closely with our sister organization, the Utah Department of Transportation.

The achievement of OGX was best captured by our speakers. Below, we share some brief highlights from Federal Transit Administrator Nuria Fernandez and UTA Executive Director Jay Fox.

If you would like to hear ALL of the speakers, head to UTA's YouTube channel.
