UTA Riders and Employees Required to Wear Face Coverings

As the state of Utah has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases recently, UTA wants to ensure we are doing all that we can to keep our riders, employees and community safe. The safety of our riders and employees has been our top priority since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and we have implemented additional safety and disinfecting procedures that align with the health and safety recommendations from experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Utah Department of Health.

Face Masks or Coverings Required for Riders and UTA Employees
Following CDC and Utah Department of Health guidelines, UTA now requires all riders and employees in Salt Lake County to a wear face mask or covering, in addition to practicing social distancing. These changes take effect Saturday, June 27, 2020 for Salt Lake County, in compliance with the Salt Lake County Health Order issued on June 26, 2020 requiring face coverings to be worn in public spaces.

On July 1, 2020, UTA will require all riders and employees system-wide to wear face masks or coverings until further notice. More information and details about the July 1 system-wide mask requirement will be shared early next week.

Need a Mask?
UTA has face masks available for riders who need one at our Customer Service locations. We are also working to make masks available on our transit vehicles.
