SALT LAKE CITY (April 9, 2026) — The Utah Transit Authority will implement multiple service updates — including the new Midvalley Express bus rapid transit route (Route 50X) — on Sunday, April 12. These updates are part of Spring Change Day. In addition to MVX, changes will include route realignments and schedule adjustments. Spring Change Day will also mark further implementation of the UTA FAREPAY Card as the primary method for paying reduced fare.
Midvalley Express
The Midvalley Express is a 7-mile bus rapid transit all-electric route that connects local destinations and planned developments to increase mobility across Murray, Taylorsville and West Valley. It also includes a stop at the transit hub on the Taylorsville campus of Salt Lake Community College. This is the third dedicated BRT route in the UTA system, following the success of the Utah Valley Express in Orem/ Provo and the Ogden Express in Ogden.
The route will run between West Valley Central and Murray Central stations. MVX will be zero fare through April 2029. Routes 39, 47, and 227 will be adjusted to support the new service.
FAREPAY Card
The UTA FAREPAY Card will transition to the primary fare payment method for reduced fare and frequent riders beginning April 12. The FAREPAY Card is a reloadable card that offers customers an easy and convenient way to pay UTA fares while making riding more affordable by automatically capping daily and weekly fares, ensuring customers pay the lowest fare possible.
FAREPAY Cards are available at UTA customer service locations, online and at participating retailers. Reduced Fare customers are encouraged to visit UTA customer service locations to learn more about the Reduced Fare program and obtain a free FAREPAY Card.
Other Changes
Several seasonal routes are adjusting or ending service, including:
- Route 470 will be adjusted to include Sunday service to Lagoon
- Ski Bus service ends: Routes 674, 675, 677, 880, 972, 994, CS1, CS2 and CS3

UTA implements new and adjusted services three times each year on a Change Day in spring, fall and winter. Change Days are key components of UTA’s efforts to improve quality of life in the region by increasing access to transit and restoring service in areas where it was previously reduced. Service updates are based on systemwide analysis, community requests and feedback, operational and cost considerations, and other factors. For complete details, visit rideuta.com/springchangeday.
