UTA and the Committee on Accessible Transportation (CAT) invites you to join a virtual American with Disabilities Act (ADA) 30th Anniversary Celebration!

An unusual year, a different way to celebrate. UTA and the Committee on Accessible Transportation (CAT) is celebrating the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 30th Anniversary and the progress UTA has made toward accessibility for persons with disabilities. This year we have decided to host several virtual events to celebrate the ADA 30th. Wednesday, July 22nd: Sign up for UTA's Virtual Book Club, we're reading "Riding the Bus with my Sister: A True Life Journey" by Rachel Simon, the book is about Rachel's sister Beth. Beth, who has an intellectual disability, spends her days riding the buses. The drivers are her mentors; her fellow passengers are her community. One day, Beth asks Rachel to accompany her on the buses for an entire year.

Paperback books and audio books are available while supplies last. Each book will come with a customized bookmark signed the by the book's author.

Saturday, July 25th 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM: A virtual screening of the documentary Crip Camp with our host partner, the Disability Rights Action Committee (DRAC). #CripCamp sheds light on one story from a complex culture - and there are many stories left to tell. Learn more about disability culture from the people who live it.
