Love cheering on the Utes but hate fighting traffic on the way to the stadium? Now you can ride UTA to campus on game days using your University of Utah athletic event ticket as your fare.
The program is simple – just board FrontRunner, TRAX or a bus with your ticket to that day’s event. You can ride the system all day using that ticket as proof of fare. The offer is good for all University of Utah home football games, gymnastic meets, men and women’s basketball games, and soccer and volleyball games. High school football and basketball tournaments held on the University of Utah campus are also included.
A quarterly schedule of eligible athletic events will be posted here.
The university sponsored the program to encourage the use of transit and make it easier for fans to reach campus on game days, said University of Utah Director of Commuter Services, Alma Allred.
“This program was designed to decrease the demand for parking during U athletic events and further enhance our commitment to sustainability and the role mass transit plays,” Allred said.
After last year’s football games, Allred said TRAX was able to shuttle 4,500 fans off campus in as little as 35 minutes. This year, he predicts 10,000 fans are will use TRAX to travel to and from football games.
