Changes are coming to UTA’s Board of Trustees monthly meeting to increase opportunities for public participation and to increase transparency.

Beginning in May, decision-making authority previously delegated to board committees will be returned to the full board. The monthly meeting of the full board is an open meeting, and members of the public and media are welcome to attend.

Information about key action items on the board agenda will be posted on UTA’s website in advance of the meeting. The public can view these items and provide feedback, which will be reviewed by the board. Public comment at the meeting itself also will be enhanced, with comments taken separately for each action item.

UTA is also working on implementing a live-streaming system for board meetings. This will allow the public to watch board meetings in real time from a personal computer or mobile device.

These changes are part of a series of reforms by the board to earn public trust and demonstrate that the public can depend on UTA. In January, the UTA Board of Trustees published an open letter to the public, acknowledging the need for change at the agency and highlighting several reforms instituted during the past year.

Since that time, the board has continued making changes to how it operates, including electing two new vice chairs, Chris Sloan and Robert McKinley.
