Exciting UTA service enhancements are right around the corner! Change day is Sunday, August 16, and with it will come extended schedules for TRAX and the S-Line and more frequent bus service on select routes. Today, we’re taking an in-depth look at the S-Line changes. Stay tuned for more information about TRAX and bus route changes later this week.

The S-Line was opened in December 2013 and connects Sugar House and South Salt Lake with TRAX. The line operates at a top speed of 25 miles per hour alongside a pedestrian and biking trail. Riders can use the S-Line to explore neighborhoods, access shopping, restaurants and parks and connect to TRAX at Central Pointe Station

A limited budget meant that for the first two and half years of operation, the S-Line has started service later and ended earlier than TRAX. Beginning August 16, the S-Line will offer the same hours of service as TRAX. The line will operate from approximately 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The schedule change is part of a UTA initiative to pass cost savings earned through efficient operation along to riders. Increased S-Line service is designed to make it easier to connect with TRAX and use the line to enjoy nearby restaurants, movie theaters and more.
