FrontRunner is turning 10! Our commuter rail line started service from Salt Lake City to Ogden on April 26, 2008. We’d like to thank the public for their continued support by offering a FrontRunner free fare day on Saturday, April 28, as well as a few other social media events and giveaways. Remember to ride the train next week and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (#FrontRunner10) so you don’t miss out on the fun.

FrontRunner Free Fare Day, Saturday, April 28

Ride FrontRunner free all day with a donation to the Utah Food Bank. Please bring a nonperishable food item to any FrontRunner station in lieu of fare on Saturday, April 28. Fare will be required on UTA buses, TRAX and the S-Line. Be sure to share your train photos by tagging us at @RideUTA and including #FrontRunner10.

Ask an Expert Twitter Chat, 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24

Ask our team of FrontRunner experts anything you’d like to know about our commuter rail system during this Twitter chat, Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. Tweet your questions to us at @RideUTA and our team of pros will answer as many as possible during the hour. If you can’t participate on Tuesday, you can also email questions in advance to utasocial@rideuta.com. Be sure to include your name and/or Twitter handle if you’d like a mention. Please note in the email if you want to submit your question anonymously. Participants will be entered in a drawing for one of two $50 gift cards. Follow the chat at #FrontRunner10.

FrontRunner Video Tour, Wednesday, April 25

What does it take to make sure FrontRunner trains are ready for service six days a week? Find out during a video tour of our Warm Springs maintenance facility. We’ll take you behind the scenes to show you how trains are maintained and repaired. You’ll also get a glimpse of our FrontRunner control room, where employees monitor the exact location and status of every active train. Watch the video on our @RideUTA Facebook page starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25.

FrontRunner Giveaways, Thursday, April 26

FrontRunner opened exactly 10 years ago this day. We’re marking this exciting anniversary with UTA swag for our FrontRunner riders. Look for UTA employees on trains and at FrontRunner stations from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. to get a free UTA smartphone pop socket and other goodies, while supplies last.
