Internet On the Go

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) conducted a wireless Internet pilot project for 60 days from Oct. 2 through Dec. 2, 2006. The pilot was considered a success and UTA is committed to offering the service on selected express routes by early 2008. For more information on UTA wireless Internet, see below.

The new UTA “Internet On the Go” wireless Internet is currently in the rollout phase.  Nearly all of UTA’s MCI express buses have the wireless equipment installed and are currently in the testing phase.

If you would like to participate in this testing process, check your list of “available wireless networks” and look for either “RiderNet” or “UTA_WiFi” in the list of available networks.  You will be directed to either this information page or a new “splash” page requesting that you read and accept the UTA WiFi terms and conditions.*  Then use your wireless laptop or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to work, surf the Internet, or check and send e-mails.

If you would like to share your feedback or if you have technical questions, please e-mail UTA at rideuta@rideuta.com.

*Please note: during the testing phase, you may experience technical difficulties or experience intermittent periods of limited or no connectivity.  This is a normal part of the testing process.  Once the final product is released, normal connectivity will be available.
