Did you know that UTA now offers Saturday service to the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium? In August, service on flex route F514 was increased to provide riders with hourly service on Saturdays in addition to existing Monday-Friday service. It is one of six flex routes that now run on Saturdays and most holidays.

Improved service on route F514 makes it a convenient way to reach the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, a 136,000-square-foot facility that calls itself home to more than 450 species of animals. Pet a stingray, watch penguins play or walk through a clear tunnel to get a unique perspective on sharks, sea turtles and other marine life. The route also provides access to the Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus, Sandy Civic TRAX Station, and the South Jordan and Draper FrontRunner stations.

UTA flex bus routes are unique in that they can deviate up to ¾ mile from their regular routes to provide riders with customized service. Route deviations must be scheduled in advance and cost $1.25.

Saturday service on the routes is funded through a combination of federal Job Access and Reverse Commute and New Freedom grants and matching UTA funds. The grants are designed to improve off-peak transportation for people in need and increase public transit options for people with disabilities. UTA planners will track Saturday ridership on the routes and will seek additional funding to continue Saturday service if the routes are well utilized.
